Job Summary
Working in the Musolino Laboratory, a translational neuroscience laboratory focusing on genetic vascular disorders that affect the nervous system, the Clinical Research Coordinator I will coordinate natural history studies under the Young Genetic Stroke Alliance (YGSA). This support will expand research efforts at MGH and help move basic science efforts from bench to bedside. The Clinical Research Coordinator I will work with guidance and supervision from the Principal Investigator to carry out a wide range of tasks to support ongoing and new research activities. The job requires high level time management and organizational skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Working under the direction of the PI and in collaboration with the PI and team, the clinical research coordinator will be primarily responsible for tasks that support the conduct of the laboratory's human research studies. Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinates activities in accordance with study meeting plans for the YGSA, including implementing protocols and study components.
  • Prepares study protocol and case report forms.
  • Takes minutes at central meetings / conference calls and disburses information to investigators.
  • Organizes and attends meetings; may attend conferences, participating in set up and/or presentation of posters and oral presentations; attendance may be local or require travel.
  • Maintains research data, patient files, regulatory binders and study databases.
  • Collects clinical data, which may include acquiring past medical records and administering study questionnaires.
  • Edits manuscripts in collaboration with the PI and others as needed.
  • May contribute to the development of study protocols.
  • Participates in the lab's development of study budgets; this may include researching of CPT codes and identifying research rates as well as providing support to active study budgets with expense tracking and billing adjustments.
  • May assist in orienting newly hired clinical research coordinators to work tasks; refers feedback on competency to PI.
  • Performs outreach and facilitates communication between the YGSA and industry, academia, and patient advocacy groups.
  • Prepares study documents and correspondences provided to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for reviews, amendments, and general upkeep.
  • Maintains and updates study binders to reflect progress of projects.
  • Performs data entry, data analysis, and other research related duties as needed.


Requirements

  • BS or BA in life sciences required.
  • Experience as attained through education required. 1-2 years of directly related experience in human or clinical research, including interaction with patients and/or the IRB, preferred.

Working Environment

The clinical research coordinator will spend 4 days per week in laboratory office space at 185 Cambridge St and 1 day per week in the related clinic at the MGH main campus.
