What does a Job Coach do?   

As a Job Coaching Specialist , you'll play a vital role in guiding individuals through their professional journeys, providing hands-on support as they learn new tasks and develop crucial workplace relationships. Your ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and adapt to diverse environments will be key as you help others navigate their roles, both in community internships and employment settings.  

In this role, you'll not only coach individuals but also serve as a bridge between our organization and community business partners, fostering inclusive practices and ensuring successful employment experiences. Your strong interpersonal skills, coupled with your knack for problem-solving and time management, will empower you to make sound decisions on the ground.  

We're looking for highly motivated individuals who understand the importance of maintaining professional boundaries while offering compassionate support, ensuring that each person you work with feels respected and empowered to succeed.  

 

Status: Part-time, 20-25 hours per week.  
Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour, $19.25 after 90 days and completion of training.   

We are in the process of hiring multiple candidates for this position. There is an opportunity for additional hours which include bilingual (English/Spanish) related job duties.   

The specialist will be responsible for:  
  • Providing guidance, support, and training to individuals while they perform their duties in their community internship or place of employment.   

  • Assist with resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and on-the-job-training.  

  • Supporting individuals with learning and navigating professional boundaries and relationships.  

  • Supporting staff team members with job coach training.   

  • Acting as a liaison between community business partners and Mains’l by providing job coaching and inclusive community training.   


The skills the specialist should have include:  

  • Clear oral and written communication.  

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  

  • The ability to identify, understand, or learn various learning styles and apply this to knowledge on an individual basis.  

  • Dependable/ time management skills to make sound decisions while out in the field.  

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills.  

  • Basic technology skills.  

  • Adaptable to various environments.  

  • Excellent customer service skills.  


Pre-employment requirements:  

  • At least 18 years of age.  

  • Ability to pass a background check through the Department of Justice (DOJ).  

  • Safe and reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.  

  • Ability to pass a driving record check.     

  • TB (Tuberculosis) Skin Test. 

Benefits:

Pay Scale:   
Starting rate: $19.00 per hour ($19.25 after 90 days and completion of new hire training).  
Maximum Pay Rate: $20.50 per hour based on years of experience at Mains'l.
