Join us as an environmental scientist working on a range of marine policy and management issues to support decision-making by a five-member body, the California Fish and Game Commission (Commission). The environmental scientist performs work as a member of a collaborative team as the staff lead on addressing a backlog of aquaculture lease amendments and new state water bottom leases; taking the lead role in advising and assisting in preparing and reviewing environmental documents created pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act and under the Commission’s Certified Regulatory Program; manages Commission tasks associated with California’s Experimental Fishing Permit Program; works with other Commission staff to develop and organize materials related to marine resource and marine policy issues for the Commission and the Marine Resources Committee; and represents the Commission in discussions with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (Department) and other natural resource management agencies.
The Commission is a State entity established within the California State Constitution. The successful incumbent will be an employee of the Commission, reporting to the executive director and working daily with the Commission's marine advisor.
Interviews are expected to be held September 3-5, 2025.
This position is a 12-month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
