Job Description

Summary

Responsible for providing a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Facilitates the laundering of clothing and linen for Country Manor residents and performs other laundry services as directed. Communicates with residents, employees, and management regarding all laundry-related concerns. May be required to perform cleaning and sanitizing tasks in independent living, assisted living, or general areas. Remains flexible and able to cover all housekeeping areas, including event clean up.

  • Monitors for potential safety issues and follows all safety procedures to ensure the safety of residents, employees, and guests. 
  • Launders, folds, and returns residents’ laundry including personal clothing, bed linens, towels, and miscellaneous items. Puts clean laundry away according to resident preference. Takes soiled linen to the main laundry rooms. 
  • Reports resident needs, concerns, or changes in resident behavior to the appropriate staff member. Remains observant regarding resident behavior and general needs. 
  • Operates washing machines, dryers, irons, and steamer; selects correct cycles, formulas, temperatures, and drying times; prepares and loads laundry chemicals; monitors machines for problems and reports equipment issues to maintenance through the online work order system. 
  • Empties lint traps from dryers after each load 
  • Keeps laundry rooms clean and organized 
  • Keeps detergent, bleach and dryer sheets stocked 
  • Adheres to established laundry protocols to prevent the spread of infection or infestation. • Communicates laundry schedule to residents and follows up with their questions/concerns. • Communicates to staff and department supervisors or manager regarding any laundry changes, resident concerns, etc. 
  • Ensures all laundry is properly ironed and neatly folded before returning to the resident. • Reports any damaged laundry to manager immediately. 
  • Sorts clothing appropriately before washing based on fabric type, color, etc. Never combines multiple residents’ laundry unless the residents are married. May occasionally complete specialized cleaning processes on specific laundry items. 
  • Locks up all carts, equipment, and supplies when not in use. Keeps cleaning supplies out of residents’ reach at all times. 
  • Follows all SV policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, infection control, privacy, confidentiality, and the reporting of elder abuse. 
  • May assist with Village Mall floors as assigned.

Job Description 

  • Follows correct procedures when cleaning all areas. Takes extra safety precaution while cleaning near residents, staff, and visitors. 
  • Follows procedures for processing laundry and linens. Maintains knowledge of cleaning procedures for various areas, i.e., IL, AL, and general areas. Maintains an understanding of the chemicals used to process laundry. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

  • One year of related experience 

Additional Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older. 
  • Fluent in English. 
  • Clear DOJ/FBI criminal background check. 
  • Negative TB test. 
  • Negative drug screening. 
  • Health screening clearance.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
