Job Description



The Engineering Intern assist engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and to perform process engineering activities at MasterBrand Kinston (standard operating sheets, poka-yokes, process trainings, line balancing, machine reliability studies, and root cause-corrective action responsibilities). This position focus specifically on updating the plant drawing in AutoCAD. This position involves working in a team environment with safety, maintenance, plant production operators, supervision, and corporate engineering support departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Use AutoCAD to update the facility drawing due to 250 machine moves over the past 6 months.
  • Support manufacturing on daily production needs from troubleshooting equipment to program generation as needed.
  • Investigate and create/design the best possible countermeasures and/or early warning indicators to prevent failures.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on equipment during breakdowns (downtime).
  • Assist operators and maintenance in machine troubleshooting, programming, and function issues.
  • Assist in confirming machine repeatability.
  • Assist managers in resolving non-downtime (nuisance) issues.
  • Support production equipment, production needs and justifications for new equipment and processes.
  • Use lean tools to troubleshoot and support production.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned at management’s discretion

Qualifications



Qualifications

  • Ability to handle multiple projects with tight timelines in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be self-starting and self-directing with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills – listening, verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Must be able to use AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor fluently.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Effective working knowledge of manufacturing processes.

EDUCATION

  • Working toward a BS degree in Industrial/Process Engineering, Engineering Technology, Wood Technology or equivalent experience required.
