Opportunity: 

We are seeking a Publishing Director to focus on building a robust content marketing ecosystem that leverages Life Surge event talent and SurgeU's expansive network of subject matter experts. This role will lead the development of high impact publishing products, including eBooks, memberships and paid subscriptions, books, magazines and digital content, while managing end-to-end publishing operations. Responsibilities span editorial development, compliance alignment, instructional design integration and monetization strategy. 

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in both financial subject matter and publishing management, with a passion for delivering clear, actionable content that empowers learners at all levels.

Responsibilities: 

  • Define and execute a publishing strategy that aligns with business goals and enhances financial literacy across diverse audiences.  

  • Identify market trends, learner needs, and regulatory changes to inform content strategy.  

  • Lead the acquisition, creation and editorial development of financial education content including eBooks, memberships and paid subscriptions, books, magazines and digital content. Multimedia content including written, video, audio and digital.  

  • Leverage Life Surge event talent and SurgeU SMEs to create impactful, high-quality content that positions SurgeU as a leader in financial education and Life Surge as the leading Christian movement.  

  • Books authored by SurgeU instructors, Life Surge event talent and other thought leaders.  

  • A high-quality magazine that appeals to both Christian audiences and those seeking financial and business education.  

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of publishing products, from ideation and production to distribution and performance analysis.  

  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to grow SurgeU’s customer base, enhance student engagement and improve retention.  

  • Collaborate with the marketing and events teams to integrate publishing efforts into broader brand campaigns and initiatives.  

  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with key influencers, publishers, and organizations to amplify reach and impact.  

  • Lead licensing efforts for curriculum and content reuse in enterprise and academic settings.  

  • Build and lead a high-performing publishing team, including editors, content creators and marketing specialists.  

  • Oversee budgeting, timelines, quality control, and resource allocation for publishing initiatives. Implement content management systems (CMS) and publishing tools to optimize workflow. 

  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of publishing strategies and refine approaches as needed.  

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in education, Finance, Publishing, Journalism, Communications or related field. MBA or master's degree in education or finance preferred.  

  • 8-10+ years of experience in educational publishing, financial media or edtech.  

  • Exceptional leadership with a talent for working with cross-functional teams and delivering results. 

  • Proven track record in senior-level publishing, content marketing or media leadership roles, preferably within the financial education, faith-based or event-driven sectors.  

  • Strong understanding of personal finance, investing, wealth management or financial planning topics.  

  • Experience developing successful subscription-based or membership models and managing publishing products (e.g., books, magazines or digital media).  

  • Expertise working with financial influencers, SMEs or credentialed professionals (e.g., CFPs).  

  • Familiarity with financial compliance and regulatory standards.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

  • Experience working in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments preferred.  

  • Background of working in a regulated industry (financial education) and the Christian market a plus.
