Job Description and Duties

The Staff Services Manager III (SSM III) is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the Workforce Development and Succession Planning program, Compliance Unit, and Training Services within the Department of Developmental Services (Department).  The SSM III oversees the strategic direction, implementation, and evaluation of programs within workforce planning, compliance, and auditing of personnel functions, training services, and Human Resources Branch policies.  

This position provides hybrid telework opportunities, with employees required to work in-person at least two days per week. Beginning July 1, 2025, all employees will be required to work in-person at least four days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25 .

Knowledge of :  Principles, practices, and trends of human resources, data trends, public and business administration, including management and support staff services. Principles and practices of employee supervision, transactions and benefits, merit-based hiring requirements, and the Department’s mission, programs, goals, policies, practices, and organizational culture.

Ability to :  Develop and maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with Department staff and managers, the public, and other governmental agency staff.  Work with professional staff to coordinate and develop personnel program services. Analyze situations accurately and take effective action. Communicate and write effectively, reason logically and creatively, analyze data and present ideas and information effectively. Review and edit written reports and establish and maintain work and project priorities.
